Well, Harriet did a good job. On January 20, she had a baby boy. Looks like his dearly departed dad, Jack. Andrew wanted to name it Henrietta if it was a girl, and I thought of Henry for a boy. Cathy suggested Jackson (Jack's son) and Debbie liked that, and so it is. He is frisky and friendly as a puppy. Harriet always has been a little stand-off-ish since the electric fence got her on the ear. The other day, when it was so dry, I was petting Jackson and Harriet came to see what was going on. I reached out with my hand and static electricity got her on the nose. She snorted and ran backwards about 20 feet. I'll include photos of mom and baby as soon as I figure out how.
No cows right now. Took them to sale in November. With the drought and Japan cutting off our imports again, prices should come down this month. May be a good time to buy, if one can afford to feed them. Hay prices have tripled in the last couple of months. Almost as bad as metal products. On the plus side, we have had two 1" rains this week. Didn't even hardly puddle, it's so dry. Gonna take alot more than that to catch up.
Bear and Boo-boo are doing fine, growing like weeds. Boo goes in to get fixed tomorrow evening, will come home on Tuesday evening. Bear will be broken hearted without him. He'll probably howl all night. We buu a 50# bag of dog food every other weekend. Boo will crawl up in your lap if you let him, pull his tail, ears, etc; nothing bothers him. Bear likes to be petted, but if you put both hands on him like you're going to grab him, poof!, he's gone. Don't know what we'll do when it's time for his next rabies vaccination. May have the city dog catcher come out and dart him, so I can catch him and load him. Always a rodeo around here. Bye for now.
